After spending an entire day with my dogs doing what they would probably consider being the best day ever, it got me thinking, “what if PEOPLE lived their life like this?” Here are some of the points I came up with:
Living on a farm, having wide open spaces to roam, and spending all day outside. This is particularly true for my own dogs and me as a person. Some dogs and people, however, may prefer living in the city, enjoying the hustle and bustle of more people, and living in an apartment. The biggest takeaway here is to enjoy where you are, focus on what you love about it, and if you don’t like it, either change your mindset or change your location.
Going for walks and playing fetch. If we all got this much exercise every day, how much healthier we would be! These activities also get you outside to breathe fresh air, disconnect from technology, and enjoy the natural world around you.
Playing in the dirt. This again goes back to being outside! Studies have shown how beneficial it is to ground ourselves (bare feet on the ground) and how bacteria in dirt is great for building up our immune systems. Clothes and skin can all be washed clean, don’t be shy!
Regular meal times. Ever skip breakfast and be starving halfway to lunch? Your dog hasn’t! Eating regularly is something so many people take for granted and don’t put enough importance on.
Treats! Life is short, eat the cookie.
NAPS! Ohhh how I love my naps, my dogs do too! I feel so much better when I can get even a short nap to get off my feet, stretch out, and rest my mind, even if just for a 15 minute power nap.
Belly rubs aka massages! When was the last time you got a massage? For some people, never! Massages are so good not only for your physical health in relaxing your body and releasing toxins, but great for your mental health as well.
Hanging out with friends. My dogs love playing with each other and my mom’s dog. They need that rough and tumble play time they can’t do with their people and they are seriously sad when they miss a single day! People need to spend time with their friends as well. Yes, even us introverts need some time to be social, if nothing else than to make us appreciate our alone time that much more!
What would your dog’s perfect day look like? What does your perfect day look like? Are they similar?
